Mind functionality is to create materialistic attachments irrespective of anything. And it is dynamic.
But, getting over attached to the positions created by the mind is Ego. And it will be static.
Ego is essential to us to some extent. Because without ego there will be no society and no family. However being aware of its limit is the key not to get trapped into it.
The first glimpse of Mother Kali's picture makes everyone feel very strange and quaint. Kali is an embodiment of one of the dimensions of the Divine Mother, that kills the ego mercifully.
If Ego crosses the limits within us then the negative feeling and emotions like ignorance, helplessness, fear, lust, jealousy, dependency, wrong usage of intellect etc., develops.
Jesus tells us that we must become like little children to enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3).
Because children will always be in an ego less state. That is the reason, they live happily with each and every moment.
Kali is the female version of Shiva, the destroyer. Because unreality gets killed by them. The ego cannot stand before Mother Kali. As it sees its own ultimate death in Her, the Ego trembles with fear.
Whereas a complete matured soul who always unites in truth to remove the imaginary ego, receives Mother Kali as a form of eternal Love.
Example: Ramakrishna Paramahamsa always received Kali as an eternal loving mother and always taken messages or guidance from her.
Hidden meanings of Mother Kali's picture are given below:
The name Kali was derived from the Sanskrit root word "Kala". "Kala" means time. It is said in Vedas that, Mother Kali is the primal energy or Adi Sakti which makes the space alive and is sensed by us as the "Time" (past, present, future).
Her skin color is dim and black shaded blue represents the origin of the cosmos. This is an enormous world of formless abilities and probabilities, from which all facts or situations arise continuously and in which they vanish continuously.
Kali's white teeth represent satva guna or tranquility ; Her red colored tongue represents rajo guna, or activity; and Her drunkenness represents tamo guna or in activeness.
The hidden meaning is that, tamo guna can be conquered by rajo guna, and rajo guna by satva guna.
Her black, long, tousled and free flowing hair describes Her freedom from limitations. Her eyes are widely opened, and , dazzling with an infinite sun's fire, as a reflection of Her tame less strength.
Her full breast represents that, all beings get nourished by Her.
Her two right arms are kindly raised to give the gifts of insight and wisdom to Her children. The sword is headed by Her upper left arm to present enlightenment by liberating the soul eternally from the totalitarianism of deceiving self. Cut off head of the ego is holded by Her lower left hand. Recognition with the body gives rise to the fantasy of the ego. Thus, the horrible presentation of a cut off head describes the most elevated act of compassion, which is given to Her devotees.
Mother Kali loftily wears a skull garland, which are liberated children's remainders. These are the trophies of the satisfaction of human growth which She outstandingly, displays around Her neck.
Shiva is perfect formless awareness, who back up the universe. He is the eternal witness of everything. Kali is the play of such a universe. She is the perfect mirror through which we get self realized.
