3 Bodies of Human Being
They are given below:
- Gross Body or Sthula Sharira
- Subtle Body or Astral Body or Linga Sharira
- Causal body or Karana Sharira
Gross Body or Sthula Sharira
This body is subjected to change in 6 stages i.e; Birth, Existance, Growth, Mature, Decline and Death.
After death, the "Five Basic Elements" are dissolved back into the Nature.
"Annamay Kosh" and a part of "Pranamay Kosh" resides in the Gross or Physical body.
Subtle Body or Astral Body or Linga Sharira
"Pranamay Kosh" is contained in this body, to facilitate the movement of the "Pranic force" or the "Life fore" or the "Cosmic energy" which directs our mental and physical activities.
This movement of the force happens through the "Nadis"or the "Energy Channels" which are always controlled by the "Seven Human Chakras" or the "Energy centers".
Life continues, as long as the "Life force" exists in the body.
This body, completely fades out, when the physical body decomposes and vanish. That is why "Cremation" of the "Physical body" is done when a person die.
It means the size of a thumb and resides in the heart like a smokeless Light or Jyothi.
Lower Mind of Astral Body
The mind is rational and thoughtful, whereas intellect is dissecting and comes after knowledge or the removal of ignorance. It is constituted with "Manomay Kosh".
Higher Mind of Astral Body
The ego based intellect leads to the mysteries. It also gets dominated by the moods, thoughts and other factors.
Hence we become aware that the self is just a witness and is completely different from the mind and the body. Self is the witness of "Vigyanmay Kosh".
"The astral body is the Linga sarira. How it comes to another body, when the body dies? How can force remain without the matter ?
So always the minute parts of the subtle matter remain, through which the internal organs of the Linga sarira make another body.
Therefore, for each one, his mind makes his own body. If I become a sage, my brain gets changed into the sage's brain. A yogi can change his body into God body in even in this lifetime".
- Swami Vivekananda's view on Linga sarira
"The mind performs all actions actively in the Linga sarira and oscillates thereby. But the gross body or the physical body does not know anything and is passive.
Once the physical body dissolves, the mind quickly takes a fresh body and moulds according to it. So the physical body is made of the mind for the outflow of its own energy. So that the self or soul gains various experiences of the world through the organs of the perception or knowledge".
- Swami Sivananda Sarasvati about Linga sarira
Causal Body or Karana Sharira
"Causal body" is the only reason and acts as a map for the "Gross body" and "Subtle body" to form in the future incarnation of the soul, when they are not detached or freed from the soul.
This body is the door to the higher consciousness and is associated with the samadhi state and the dreamless sleep state. This body is a medium which connects the consciousness in the individual to the Universal consciousness.
The life span of the each body is different. The Gross body depends on the food, so has less life span. Subtle Body depends on the feelings. So this body can survive longer. Whereas Causal body depends on the peace, which comes directly from the soul. So this body survives, until the soul is attached to it.
The soul does not depend on anything, as it is just an observer and eternal.
They are the people who reached the highest realm and present in the universe in an embodied or non embodied state. They can operate in the Gross, Subtle and Mental worlds.
Three States of the Human
These states are experienced with the Soul within, which observes and experiences.
In the state of waking, man is identified with his physical body.
In the state of dream, man is identified with his subtle body.
And in deep sleep state, man is identified with his causal body.
The soul monitors the consciousness of these three states and the base of their unity.
